Blender is great companion software to Houdini. I use it primarily for modeling.
For CAD stuff, I often work with Solidworks and Rhino files from my clients or model myself in MOI3D. But this project was the opportunity to test how good is the new boolean/bevel workflow (using boxcutter/hardops) for CAD style product modeling and visualization.
Verdict: it is good ! :-)
But Cycles and Eevee are still far behind Redshift for volumetric rendering. And Blender is still cumbersome for baking and painfully slow with high poly counts and procedural hierarchies.
However, I see myself opening less and less C4D these days as I prefer the Houdini+Zbrush+Blender combo!
